What is copyright ?

If you have ever copied or dubbed any material (visual, text or music) without the permission of the originators then you have broken the law! Continuing to do so may result in prosecution, heavy fines and confiscation of your equipment. All musical compositions are the property of the composer or his heirs and may not be performed without permission until seventy years after his death. The recording of music is governed by its mechanical copyright and may not be duplicated without licence. Thus ALL copying of copyright material, even in amateur situations, is illegal

What is copyright-free music ?

No music can be strictly copyright-free. The copyright on all of our library is held by TRACKLINE. Where the material is out of copyright ( e.g. our extensive Classical range ) then TRACKLINE hold the full mechanical copyright on these recordings. In purchasing any TRACKLINE compilation you are automatically licensed to duplicate the material as often as you wish. Unlike many of our competitors we make no distinction between amateur and professional use, although the right to duplicate and re-sell is strictly non-transferable. Retention of your invoice is sufficient evidence of your right to duplicate.

I have bought it.... How do I download it?

If you have purchased a downloadable track then there are 2 ways you can download, once your payment has been accepted.

At the bottom of your receipt, which will appear at the end of the purchase procedure, you will notice your tracks are individually listed and a download link appears under each one. Clicking on these download links will initiate the download. It is advisable that you print out this receipt as you will need to quote the order number if you have any difficulties.

Alternatively, if you are not ready to download the files upon purchase you can download them at a later time using the links provided in the confirmation email that has been sent to you.

These links will stay active for a period of 48 Hours

If, in the unlikely event, you do experience a problem, contact Trackline via the "Contact Us" link and quote your order number on the email. A Trackline representitive will be able to resend the confirmation email to you and reset your download period.

My download is an Exe file? What do I do with it?

If your downloaded file has a ".exe" file extension it means it contains more than one track. Your track has short cut or sting versions of the same track or is a collection of stings or short cuts.

To gain access to your tracks, simply double click on the .exe file, "Browse" to a prefered folder or accept the default and then click the "Unzip" button.

Your purchased files will be extracted into the selected destination path.

Please note : You will need access to a PC running windows 95 or later to unpack this file.

What is the music like ?

Unlike much copyright-free music, TRACKLINE collections include both real instruments and electronic sounds depending on the musical style. Whether purchased on Audio CD or CD-Rom, all the music is supplied in stereo digital 16 bit recordings at 44.1 KHz.

Single track downloads are supplied as MP3's for ease of download.

Why buy CD-Roms ?

If you reqularly edit video or multimedia material on a PC then it makes perfect sense to buy music ready formatted for use. Why waste time converting red-book audio to PC Wav format and waste disk space storing it ? All TRACKLINE CD-Roms contain full quality 44.1KHz stereo 16 bit tracks and come with free software. If you wish to use our patent looping utility, TRACKMAKER, this will only work with CD ROM versions from the Trackline library.

Can I use the Single Downloadable Tracks with TrackMaker ?

No. Trackmaker cannot import the MP3 downloadable tracks available here in the store.
TrackMaker is designed to read WAV (Wave File) format as only WAV files are accurate enough to store the looping data required. TrackMaker can be used with any of the Mail Order CD-ROMs which are available in the "Mail Order CD's" section of the store.
